Thought I’d share my seemingly hellish travelling arrangements for shits n’ giggles.
I have 3 options, I have two people that can give me a ride on certain days, which will be a lot cheaper than the train, since there’s no direct route thanks to the wonderful South Downs.
There are no quicker routes, since there are downsides that pretty much cancel out any benefits in time, only cheaper ones. I also haven’t factored in the idea that it may be cheaper to go to a bed and breakfast or something on double days XD. They also all pretty much start between 5:30 and 6:30am.
Share a car with two other guys. The actual starting point of the car journey is a one hour walk from your house that involves walking up a steep hill, and not all the roads are lit, so bring a flashlight. The drop-off point is 30 minutes’ walk away from university.
- Off-limits during colder months
- When icy, avoid like the plague
- Try not to get run over
- The driver goes home earlier at the end of the week
Share a car with some other dude. He can pick you up, but where he goes is a 15 minutes walk from a train station that can take you to the town the university is in. It’s another 10 minutes from the station to the university.
- He cannot go on certain days of the week.
- Some weeks the driver may not be available at all.
Walk 20 minutes to the train station, buy a train ticket, make between 1 and 2 changes and then walk another 10 minutes from the station.
- Better hope there’s not a replacement bus service
- Goddamn expensive [£15 return]
All of these times are for one way.
OPTION 1: 3 hours and 1 minute. [currently unknown]
OPTION 2: 2 hours 48 minutes (not fully estimated) [£5.90 total single, £8.15 total return]
OPTION 3: 3 hours 10 minutes [£15 total single/return]
